information coming out of l.a.x., the los angeles international airport. shots were heard, shots were fired. we're told about a half an hour or so ago, 9:30 a.m. pacific time. that would be 12:30 p.m. here on the east coast. about a half an hour or so ago, this incident apparently started with the shots fired. there are injuries. we've seen people evacuated. and we've sign people who have been injured. we have no idea what caused the shots to be fired. we do know that as a precaution, as they always do at these kinds of incidents, authorities are taking precautions and evacuating the terminal. we believe it's terminal 3 at l.a.x. if you're familiar with l.a.x., this is a huge terminal. this is a huge airport. on a friday morning when traffic is just building up for something like this to happen obviously very, very disturbing. l.a., l.a.x. police confirming and i'm quoting now there is an incident at l.a.x. and evacuations are under way. shots have been fired. and people have been injured. apparently multiple injuries in this incident. tom fuentes, our law enforcement analyst is on the phon

with the unexpected consequences from their early infrastructure design. los angeles county is a land of sprawling development. with development comes hundreds of square miles of concrete, leaving no way for water to naturally soak into the ground. in areas of such widespread urbanization, flooding can be devastating. man: back in early 1930s, there was a flooding that took a lot of lives and property. as a result, the city of los angeles, in order to protect future flooding in the city, they decided to take the los angeles river and make it a flood control channel. they concreted the walls of the river in order for water to get to ocean much faster. narrator: cities throughout southern california converted natural rivers to these concrete channels, part of their storm drain systems. this allowed expanding development without the need for large flood plains. kharaghani: the los angeles river is approximately 51 miles. concrete reduces the size of the river that you need to carry the water because it speeds up the flow of water. if you'd like to remove all the concrete and to have natural system to

of a shooting incident at los angeles international airport. l.a.x. aerials coming from affiliate kabc. an incident let's call this one. not sure of the details at the moment. >> what we're looking at are these aerials what seems to be officers, it looks like law enforcement officials, are some it's hard to see. it looked like they had at some point had pulled weapons but you see there's a firefighter there, as well who seems to be talking with law enforcement officials. we are also looking at what seems to be the parking lot that is in the area. again, we are just getting word that there are evacuations taking place outside. people are coming outside of the airport because of a warning that the airport is giving to those who are inside of a potential incident, and we believe it could be a shooting incident. >> yeah. what we have from the official twitter account of the los angeles international airport is this. a tweet in its entirety reads they, and this is pretty much all we know "there is an incident under way at l.a.x. law enforcement is on the scene. more information to follow."
